    Painting carpet

Has anyone used duplicolor fabric paint on their carpet? I'm thinking about painting it black. I know a detailer who says he does it all the time. I'm just wondering if anyone else has with good results.

I have tried it before - be sure the carpet is spotless for the best color change. I have also known people that have used regular spray paint to dye the carpet.

cool thanks. i've heard of people using regular spray paint also. i'm wondering if the fabric paint would hold up better.

actually the spray paint made to stick to plastic should work as well as the fabric paint

I had a friend use RIT dye and pots of boiling hot water in a kiddie splash pool from Wal-Mart. Seemed to work pretty well.

I used this company for an old Impeza, fit OK but you definitely have to trim it a bit and have a heat gun to massage it into place.

When I bought both of my 4x4's, the first thing I did was remove the carpet, suspend it from a clothes line and take the pressure washer to it. They both cleaned up surprisingly well. Unless yours is really ripped up, you might want to give it a try. You obviously want to use the widest spray nozzle and hit it from both sides. I had a little berm of mud under mine when I finished, it's amazing how much dirt the carpet can hold.

Auto custom carpets make the best fitting carpets for the 1st gen trucks and if you watch on ebay, sometimes they go cheap - the last one I bought was like 80 shipped, and it was even the color I wanted.

sweet, i ripped mine out a while back because I spilled old gear oil on it. Might try cleaning it, see how that goes.
