    Headlight switch issue

The base of the stem on my light switch on my '91 cracked off, so that the barrel just spins around and won't turn lights on or off. I pulled the unit off of my project '94, installed on the '91 and now I have brights but no dim lights. Side markers and tails all light properly but no regular headlights. What am I missing ?
Update. Turns out that my battery hold down broke, letting the battery slide against the headlamp plug. Apparently this shorted out the low beam circuit and blew the 15 amp fuse. Replaced the hold down and fuse and my lighting is back in working order.

Are you talking about the knob? On mine there was an Allen set screw that held it to the stem. High and low was on the column in the turn switch.
