Removing oil dip stick housing from block

I'm trading my 1st gen dip stick and housing for the 2nd gen version because it's got the taller housing which will help avoid contact with the alternator + cables. I also don't want the beat up rubber stopper on mine to fall into the oil pan when I check the oil someday.
I have removed the 2nd gen tube from doner, but I can't get the tube on my engine to come out of the block so easy. I don't see a set screw of any kind unless it's hidden from view. Is there an easy way to remove this shorter version tube from block?

I think I figured it out. 2nd gen is pushed in with a round rubber seal around tube.
The 1st gen has a flared end and the flaring is in the oil pan. Unless I can pull this through to the outside, it looks like it would have to have oil pan removed to replace it.
