    Would you?

Found an 88 Conquest being parted out without prices. Thinking about seeing what he wants for the engine, ECU, harness, and fuel/intake.

Would mean starting a turbo engine from the ground-up, but again...if that price is right.

    Would you?

Edit: He has seats, says they are in great shape...if anyone needs.

I would and I have. Just keep in mind that the heads are prone to cracking. Also the injectors go bad when sitting for a long time.

    LOL, well....shit!

Typical of Craigslist....SOB sent me a mail this morning saying he'd get back to me on price, then texted me to say he sold the whole car.

    Maybe next time.

And yeah, Mopar, I will eventually go diesel...but just getting a 4BT core is very expensive and then building it will be much more so. I see long blocks all the time for $6-8000 and I want performance...so $10-12000 is my guess. O.o

    Diesel is a long-term goal.

Never get hopes up on Craigslist. Respect is an unknown word on that site and I give a name to people like that...Craigslist Flies. They fly around Craigslist always wanting to talk about worthless crap for hours and their hopes and dreams. My Craigslist ads are so friggin snotty about lamers calling wasting my time and no text messages excepted, etc... that I am surprised that they call me about stuff. If they show up, they want the priced dropped below what you want, then say they don't want it.
Just take their phone numbers and forward them to some Marketing Company working for porno sites. Some people don't get it, until they get it back.

Check out HPA motorsports for 1.9 VW TDI conversions I posted link to them in the link section, I have been checking these out on ebay fairly reasonable on some and the way figure it with their mods and some of your own easy 400 lb. ft. of torque.

While TDI are great engines that get insane mileage, if I walk down that road, I'm gonna run. I want power. The 4BT with 6BT parts will cover that nicely.

Consider the idea being a diesel sleeper, I guess?

Like this, only a bit less insane:

Yes they make plenty of power, only problem going that route is typical Cummins they weigh so F***ING much, you would wear your axles out. that's why (JMO) the tdi makes more sense, you could use stock axles tweek it little and have just as much power 3/4 less weight.

My 88 Max has the Starquest engine and turbo. I bought it turn key and recently smogged in Spring 2011. After driving my NA 2.6L Raider, the turbo was like a clean, shiny day after living in LA smog, my goodness. The gent that built the truck up only addressed the power plant, transmission with Starion gear sets, and bigger stainless exhaust. The AC was retained and converted to R134, negating use of the stock intercooler. I am in the process of fixing up my truck again, following a headgasket issue. The mileage I had over 10k miles was about 18 mpg, about what the NA engine returned but gangs more fun.

As to a diesel swap, why not consider a Mitsubishi TD? This is all relatively bolt in stuff, unlike the Cummins.
