    2.4L manual transmission HELP !!

    I have a manual transmission and when I go into 5th gear it whines really bad.. could anyone tell me what this could be?

    Is it making noise in other gears or just 5th? but it sounds like a bad pocket bearing where the input shaft connects to the output shaft. Sorry but it's bad news. Have you been pulling a trailer?

    Can we order that part by itself? the reason it happened because we ran the transmission a little after building the truck and forgot about putting transmission fluid in .. All other gears are fine =)

    the whole kit to rebuild with bearings and synchros is under 200 - to get to that bearing, you might as well rebuild the whole tranny while its apart. Then its new as the rest of the truck - don't cheap out now!
