    Ignition problem

Im having a problem with my ingnition on my 89' power ram-50. when I turn the key forward nothing happens, the lights on the dash don"t turn on, and the car doesn't start. I jumped a wire from the ballod resistor to a toggle switch and when I turn the toggle switch on the lights on the dash go on and thenI can put the key in and crank it and it will start and run fine. I replaced the ballad resister and the ignition switch but nonothing's changed, I don't know what's wrong. Any Ideas?
