    Frame build opinions

So I junked a 88 mm but the frame with notches I kept. I also have a 87 d50 with 2.6 5 speed motor being built right now. So I'm looking at building the frame I kept and once built take everything from the 87 and swap to built frame. What does everyone think? What issues do you think I will have? Btw I will get pics tomorrow.

I'm not to worried bout that camoit. I've just noticed things like wiring and brake lines I think will be my worst obstacles. I'm looking more towards what people think bout building a frame for another truck.

If they are the same wheelbase, they should interchange without problems. Since both are carb motor frames, the fuel lines and such are also the same. The only difference I could see causing a problem is if the one truck was a standard cab long bed and the other was an extended cab short bed - the wheelbase is the same, but the bed and body mounts would be in different places.

Has anyone ever cut the bottom off the engine crossmember and welded a plate or is a Z pretty standard to lay frame?

Yes people have done it and it is perfectly fine to do it that way. Much easier than a z imo.

thats what i did. only problem is steering arm hits about 1/8 inch before frame lays. but nothing that will hurt anything and eventually drag off, plenty of metal is left and wont affect steering. much less work than zing. but dont be afraid to z the frame if you have some fabrication experience its not hard really
