    2.6 replacement

    Howdy all,
Anyone ever try out those used engines from Japan? My 50 has alot of miles on the clock and is due to be replaced in a year or so,
Also thinking of something to replace the silent shaft type system for the oil pump. Currently have some type of Weber carb on there I'll have to track down a number, to see, I needed another project anyway, but this one should be fun.
    Cheers,

I picked up a used imported V6 for my '91 4x4 and it has worked out great. I have a good friend who grew up in Japan and still has a lot of family there and he has told me that there are pretty expensive mandated "inspections" on used vehicles, designed to encourage people to buy new. It's something like $2,000 every five or six years, so a lot of 9 year old vehicles get scrapped. Most people don't put a lot of miles on their vehicles so there tends to be the low mileage engines available.
