wide and narrow km132 tranny internals interchangeable?

So I know I'm not the first person to ask this (let alone do it), but are the wide km132 internals able to be swapped into a narrow block-transmision case? I know there are differances between mighty max and starion, but what about when they are both mighty max trannys?

I have a 2.0L 5spd with a bad transmission (noise grindy gears), and a good 5 speed wideblock tranny from an 88 d50. Do i have a useful combination?

ps. i tried to search for this and couldn't pull up any threads-- if anyone knows of a good one, please feel free to let me know. I also checked projectzerog, but I only found info on switching starion/d50 combos, which is out of my league.

if they are km132s they may fit, but it depends on the years of both trannies - just like the km144s have different shaft sizes for different years.

I see, thanks. Mine is from an 85 MM (I'm assuming so far that it's the original tranny in it). The new 5 speed is from an 88 d50. I guess i'll find out if they're swapable guts when i tear them open.

    Thanks!

good question I know going from 145 to 132 will work as matter fact my 145 I rebuilt has a 132 front input shaft, but both of my trannies were wide block. Good luck.
