    5th gear tranny clunk?

whenever i shift into fifth my transmission i guess doesn't clunk, I can't feel it, but I can hear what sounds like a metal on metal tap? i guesss you would have to hear it. but what i am asking is, if my transmission does everything it is supposed to without any slippage, should I replace it? and would another 5spd tranny out of a late 80's mazda b2600i fit and work?

and I'm still trying to get pictures of my finished and running truck. video too.

If it aint broke dont fix it ... but i would probably start looking for a spare/replacement tranny in case/when anything happens. And no a b2600i tranny wont work, altho a b2600(carb) would bolt up(don't know if its that simple) if you have a 2.6

No it wont, what i was saying is the regular b2600(the carbed ones not the f.i. b2600i) had a mitsu 2.6 so the tranny would bolt up but not the b2600i which uses a mazda engine.
