I have a good one, but its off a 18gal tank from the extended cab so maybe different for the smaller standard cab tanks.

    Same Fuel leak

I'm a brand new member as of 10 minutes ago. Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I have the same problem. 1988 mighty max 4wd. The fuel is leaking from the triangular plate bolted to the tank with the fuel lines and vent. Once MiniRam gets his situation fixed, I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer. I've been looking for a way to get this fixed for almost a month. IMG_0778.jpgIMG_0779.jpgIMG_0780.jpg

Are you guys talking about the filler vent?
If that plate is leaking then you need to call radiator shops to see who can fix it. It looks to be soldered on there. I don't see any bolts. You may be able to find a new tank somewhere. The only thing I see bolted on is the fuel level gage on the right side of the filler.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure what it is called. The fuel comes into the opening between this vent and the fuel gauge. I used to think what I needed to fix was the sending unit, but when I ordered that part, I got the fuel gauge senser. What I'm looking to fix has three copper feeds coming off of it, one is a vent and two for the fuel. The pictures are deceiving, it is bolted on, but the bolts are very rusty. I don't think you can It seems that finding a replacement tank is near impossible. I've looked at more than a dozen places.

If someone has an idea of where to get a replacement for the whole tank, I'd go that route. My next step is to try to remove the filler vent and see if I can have someone solder or replace the lines where they attach to the metal plate.

NYVIKING, is your truck an extended cab? Your tank looks exactly like my extended cab tank I just took out of my truck and I do have the part you are looking for and it is in great condition.

Can you get us a picture of just the part that is leaking? I think I see 3 bolts. It should have a rubber gasket under it. You can make a new one. Your local hose and rubber shop should be able to help. If it's rusted through then some one should be able to weld it up.

The second picture with the triangular mounting plate is what he is talking about. It has three studs and three nuts, I have a good one for him. Sending him a PM

Be careful with an open flame or welding around that. Explosion hazard.
