DO IT. I love the 302 in mine. granted it was a little bit of work to get it to fit but it was fun when I first got it on the road. Drove the tires off of it for 5 summers till I got hit by a drunk.Version 2 should be done in a month to 6 weeks.

Look in the first gen thread for foolonthehill's build of his first gen with a 360 under the hood - it fits well. Another options are starquest turbo motors or the 4g63 swaps.

There have been several people on this forum that have done them; for lots of info go to www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com - it will give you info on putting the 4g63 in just about anything and where to get the adaptors for various trannies and other items.

If you have a 5 speed your tranny will bolt up to a 4g63.

I kind of have a 4g63 swap write up in my build thread: http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin...ht=4g63t+build

If its a narrow 5spd (12.5" spacing) it will work with a 4g63. The wide block 5 spd is 13.25" and will not work.
