You really want me to do that ... hmmm, let me think about that and gather up some info. I am not the only one on here with info for these motors, but I have done most of them, and know about most of the other tricks. It maybe even better if it is a wiki, but I will leave that to the admins to decide.

    Let's run down the basics

there are narrow and wide block 2.6's

from the 2.6 beginnings the auto rwd and the auto/manual fwd were narrow and the manuals were wide

the narrow measures 12 1/2 inches wide at the bottom bellhousing bolts stright across if i remember correctly

the wide measures 13 3/8 at the same measurement (if i'm wrong on these someone please correct me)

vitrully all parts interchange between the two accept the block

from what i understand everything after 86 and rwd was wide regardless of transmisson

the highest compression height stock piston you can get is 1.417

please correct me if i wrong on any of this and i'll change it ...i'm going off my memory which is also clouded with small block chrysler and 4g63 stuff ...

    Anybody else wanna jump in?

There were several headers made for the g52b 2.0 and all 2.6 motors - Hooker, Cyclone anti - reversionary, Doug Thorley, and Pacesetter to name a few. Only the Pacesetter is still available new - it is a short tube header designed for high rpm power. If you can find a Doug Thorley header, it is a long tube tri - y design that is designed for the 2.6 motor for max torque at the motor's torque peak - still the best header ever made. The wide block measurement is 13.25 or 13 1/4 - very close. There are also some early 87 (actually 86 2nd gen) 2.0s that are narrow block.

You can start a new page in the WIKI.
Then everyone can just edit the page from there.
Just name it 2.6 G54B Performance.

just checked Doug Thorley website the latest catalog is from 2009 and according to it they still make headers for both 2.0 and 2.6. So that info can be taken how you want.

Thorley DOES NOT still make them, plenty of member have called and asked and they don't nor won't make anymore.

I'll try to find the site that a Mazda guy(b2600's which came with the mitsu g54b) made for his performance build of his g54b, it had a lot of good info in it.

This has a bit of info in it, and a fair number of things to consider and otherwise think about:
