Used to get 25-30 with the old Mikuni (best ever was 34mpg from Portland to Pendleton, Or), down to about 12-14 right now until I get this thing dialed in.

Really hoping to break 20mpg again soon. Gas gonna kill me.

I never really checked it. If what you have is correct then you are somewhere around 23. But I do get 4 MPG with the Freightliner and 5.5 on the Peterbuilt

I was getting 28-32mpg in the city and 40-46mpg on the highway with the original 302(85 HO cam and 4bbl) in it with the 3.45 ranger axle in OD.With current build I might get low 20's in the city.

now lets say i hook the fuel return back up, neck it down to say 1/8 in. to restrict flow so most of the fuel stays in bowl and any excess is returned. think this might create a lean condition or improve mpg. Thoughts!

If you want to lean it out just lower the float level or smaller jets. unless you have to much fuel pressure then a return line is unnecessary. Once a float reaches it's set level the only fuel that will flow in is what the engine is burning.

You guys are lucky, my 1984 Toyota 4x4 gets 14-16 mpg city, with a weber 32/36, and I don't know about the highway because my 31's are not balanced and i hop all over the place when i get over 45.

okay, got my figures in 243 miles still approx about 1/8 tank left. 13.44 gallons to fill so about 18 mpg normal driving for me. Not too bad, so if i short shift and baby it might break the 20 mark.

my 83 with 2.6 I average about 19 combined. Its hard for me to get a good city vs highway rating. I live in the mountains of Santa Cruz and often have to punch it to keep up with traffic on the free way. When I drove to visit my Dad in Oregon last year I averaged 24-25ish on the highways. But they have been adding in more and more ethanol into the fuel in CA, which also kills millage since it dosent give as much power as real gas.

Also my engine is at 392,000 miles without a major overhaul. I've rebuilt the head but nothing on the bottom end. Previous owner of my truck tried "hot roding" the engine, so who knows what may be in the bottom end of the thing. Its all stock now, but I know my punching it up hills kills the millage.
