no, never tried.
No can do. These ecu’ are non programmable. 1998 are the earliest from Mitsubishi
You could probably read the binary, then go ahead and burn a new EPROM.
The reading it and figuring out the binary into something usable is the hard part. Easier to go for a cheap programmable one now days.
You can actuallly dump to ROM on any ECU. In our case you have to desolder the chip.
If you have the definitions you can dump the binary and run it through a program the will make sense of it.. even to the point of showing the maps. That is the hardest part. I'm wondering if other DSM from the OBD 1 era would run the same definitions. There are many programs that can do this.
I will pull apart my spare (broken) ECM and see if it can be socketed. If so you would be able to alter the maps, burn an eprom and reinstall.
Let me look this weekend.
Well... turns out the MCU chip holds the files so it is not that easy to dump the files.
There are companies that will add a daughter board to our ECM's to allow the use of an EPROM. it is about $150 to do that. You can then use a DSM tuner program to tuner our ECM.
