My 2 cents, I have the 5 speed manual 2.3L 4D55T. The power band on it is strictly between 2500 and 3500 rpms, and if you over rev then it slowly crawls higher. The narrow powerband from the turbo lines up very well with the gearing, but changing ratios could leave you with some slow spots.
