4g64 main bearings
I’ve recently acquired a 1992 max with the 2.4 engine in it that I’m currently in the process of rebuilding I just got it back from machine shop punched it out 20 over due to cylinder pitting. I had ordered new main bearings a rod bearings, I’ve encountered my 1st of I feel will be a few issues. My question is the main bearings it calls for are incorrect they thrust bearing is to narrow a the other bearings the oil hole dosent completely line up. I ordered ms2039p clevite tri layer bearings. The rod bearings also seemed to be a little narrow compared to the ones in the engine. Any help on the bearings I need to order or how I need to search for the correct ones would be greatly appreciated I’ve tried an have just come up with the same thing.

you may have been caught in that mid-year thing. Is your motor a 6 or 7 bolt(flywheel) ?
-
It’s a 6 bolt, I tried looking up different years and they were all calling for the set that I got.

not common to hear of this type of problem. It is possible the bearing label or packaged wrong
....or worse, I hope the machine shop gave you back your stuff. A stretch, but I've had my share of horrors with them

When I sent mine off it was just a bare block I didn’t want to give the chance for anything to be lost. The bearings I got are labeled a the part number are the same on them. A the bad part the originals don’t really have a part number on them or atleast one I can find searching. I’ve got a feeling the engine was changed at some point an I have no idea how to figure out what I have. It’s got 4g64 on the block along with LX9727
