My truck 1986 PowerRam50 needs fuel system cleaning runs too poorly to safely drive.
We will try cleaning the existing original 18gal tank & if cannot will purchase a 15gal replacement fuel tank similar to Dorman # 576-015...
NEED DISTANCE from tank bottom to fill hole C/L (a 15gal tank fill hole might be 1.5" lower than 18gal tank which would make my fill hose TOO SHORT) There is not enuff room to raise the tank 1.5" before it hits the bed bottom...
Crawled under the truck this evening to take tank measurements (15"W 13"H 35"L) Dorman tank (15.25"W 11.5"H 34.12"L)

The 4X4 truck 18gal tank is approx 1.5" higher x 15"W x 34"L as compared to the Dorman tank specs...
Converts to 765 cuin larger than the 15gal tank
765 cuin converts to 423 floz
423 floz converts to 3 3gal
So there is THE 3gal capacity difference but the aftermarket tank should fit as it looks the same in online photos...
IF our 18gal tank cannot easily be cleaned will buy a 15gal galvanized aftermarket tank...
Am in progress of rebuilding a Mikuni carb & have new OEM fuel pump ~ will pump alcohol thru both gas lines & install new in line and in tank fuel filters...
The fuel filler tube & fuel level sending unit will need cleaning too...
Install LOCKING GAS CAP

eir 15gal tank (tank bottom to fill hole C/L) that would really be helpful ~ will try contacting DORMAN to see if they will provide this distance.
