Throwout bearing not engaging on 83 Mighty Max!!!

I need help lol
I have an 83 Mighty Max 4x4 that has the narrow G54B because it is an automatic. I have been trying to install a narrow 4 speed 4x4 transmission from a junkyard truck I have a new throughout bearing and clutch but when everything is assembled my throwout bearing won’t engage the diaphragm springs. I discovered that there is two different sizes of throwout bearings and I have the taller one on currently but still doesn’t make a difference. I have also ruled out the clutch cable, I am positive that the swing arm that the cable attaches to moves all the way forward without any resistance.
