Hey gang, thanks for the add.
Currently have an 87 & an 88 Ram 50.
87 is a survivor, 88 is more of a show truck. Looking to replace the tired 2.0 in the 87, & was thinking of a 2.4 out of a PT cruiser or something like that. Just need it to get decent mpg &run dependably.
Is it hard to put a newer motor in & swap over the new harness & EFI?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to mightyram. The Mighty Max came with the 4G64 EFI 2.4 as an option on later trucks so if you really want to go injected, there is a direct nut and bolt swap. They are readily available so maybe keep an eye out for a cheap wrecked truck and scavenge everything off it for the swap. I would only avoid the swap if the donor truck is a 1990 model. There were issues with engine management peripherals and it's specific only to that year model. The G63B can be used for a full blown performance platform with the twin cam turbo from Mitsubishi/DSM but this takes a little modification to get it to work on a RWD truck but it's been done plenty of times - a number of tuner sites have extensive info on making it work.
