I’m tuning my 4G64 and replacing gaskets. Can anyone tell me if my engine has head studs or bolts?
My 1990 4G64 has female hex head bolts, if I remember they're 10mm. I don't know if they changed that for '92.
Be sure to take precautions to not drop lifters from the assembly when you remove them. Here's a helpful hint:

Mitsubishi used head bolts. Be sure you know what type you will need as there are different length bolts with different diameter shoulders on them.
Should I replace them with new bolts or switch to studs and nuts?
I don't think you can switch. Some of the head bolts are reusable. When I replaced my 1st gen head a few years ago the Mitsubishi dealer could still get them so I went with new.Quote:
