Q. Weight of a 2.6? A. 306lbs

I was trying to find the weight of the 2.0 and 2.6. I just aquired an '87 ram and pulled the engine, It weighs 306 lbs. fully dressed minus the alternator. Thought I would pass this along as I could not find this information when I searched around for it.

Also if you're interested in knowing the weight of the 360 with aluminum head I swapped out in my '86, it was 488 lbs.

The 2.0 (G63B) should weigh less. My guess is under 300 lbs... knowing what it weighs with the 360 will give the numbers geeks a power to weight ratio to work with. It would've been interesting to know what the total weight of the drivetrain was (engines + transmissions)

If I get around to it I will weight the flywheel, clutch and transmission, I also have a baby 904 and torque converter laying around.

The 1st gen Ram truck with the 360 and 904 trans with a full tank of gas (18 gallons) weighed exactly 2,900 lbs. I have an identical Mighty Max with a 2.0, 4 speed I have been meaning to get up the the scale for comparison.

Took my 1984 MM with the 2.0 and 4 speed to the scale and it weighed in at 2,629 lbs with me in it and a full tank of gas.
Front axle -1,420 lbs, 54.2%
Rear axle - 1,200 lbs, 45.8%

1986 Ram 50 360 V8 swap, aluminum head, aluminium intake and 904 auto transmission. Transmission was moved back 2" from the stock placement of the baby 904 and the engine was mated up from there. Total weight with me in it 3,060 lbs.
Front axle - 1,820 lbs, 59.5%
Rear axle - 1,240 lbs, 40.5%

Hmm, there's not a lot of difference between a first gen Ram and your swapped truck. The weight of a teenager... I would've thought the swapped truck would've been lighter than that. It looks like the balance from front to rear is still pretty good though, but this is going to come down to power-to-weight. If the the rear end ratios are tighter which they should be, this is gonna launch like a bullet :grin:
