1st Gen small block 360 motor mounts

I got the motor mounts tacked in today for the V8 swap. Used 3/16 x 3 bar stock.

Next up is the oil pan, believe I'm going to use one from a Durango and cut the sump out and move it forward six inches or so.Attachment 21225 Attachment 21226 Attachment 21227 Looks like the sump should fit between the cross member and steering linkage. I already test fit a oil pickup tube from a Dodge pickup with the magnum and it falls right into place.

Nice. for my 4.3L I ended up notching the cross member to fit everything. Wish I went lower, but I didn't want to fuss with the oil pump or steering.

Here's a few pictures of the oil pan. The pan is for a 5.9 / 5.2 Durango / Dakota. I cut the sump and moved it forward to where it would sit between the cross member and tie rod. I then filled in the back with another pan I had. Oil pick up tube is from a full size truck and sits perfectly in the sump after shortening it one inch.

Nice job of piecing it together. A buzz with a grinder and a coat of paint will work wonders :thumbup:

I'm probably a bit to picky, but just smeared on some body filler last night. Going for that OEM look. Once I have the engine in and driving the truck will be tore down to the frame and rebuilt. I have spent the last few months accumulating every rubber part bushings, mounts and ect. Going for factory look, doing everything right and make it look like it rolled off the factory floor with a 360 option.

I would use something like an epoxy filler/JB. I think the body filler won't be up to thermal expansion and once some oil or road grime gets into the cracks, it's not going to hold up too well (just an opinion)

aluminum or steel filled epoxy is even better - it can be ground like real metal and primed and painted like metal too.It also will hold up to oil at temperature - steel epoxy can be used on cam journals.

I did a A904 swap into a Colt wagon and needed to mod the rear extension housing mount in the cross member. Turned out there was a 1" thick steel reinforcer running through it which needed a oxy torch to get through. I wondered why this stupid small cross member weighed so much...

:thumbup:Might not be a Mitsu engine but it's in the family tree. Good thing the truck engine bays are a generous space to work with.

travhous , The engine looks beautiful. Do you have a build page working for this build. Love to hear the steps and procedures in details as well as others. Can't wait for that run video. :thumbup:
