Carb flooding engine after installing head gasket

Had a bad oil leak recently, so I replaced the head, intake and, exhaust gaskets. Ever since then, my 88 2.0 max with the Mikuni carb has had high idle, dieseling, high fuel consumption and flooding issues.

I think my issue is vacuum related as I've been struggling with understanding the vacuum diagram and, with my best efforts there are still some connections arent attached.

I've tried using the diagram on the hood and one I found in the Mitsu ASA program I found on here... does anyone have a better diagram or something else that might help?

Check your accelerator cable adjustment and the throttle stop. Also try giving the top cover on the carb a tap with a screwdriver handle just above the main fuel inlet - the float might have jammed itself open. I doubt your issue is vacuum related but I've been wrong before.

Throttle cable and stop are where they should be and I gave the carb a few taps. I even replaced the thermostat, in case it was boiling the fuel, but with minimal luck.

It seems to drive fine for the first 5-10 minutes when cold but, when it warms up the problem gets worse. Too much fuel pressure maybe?

It shouldn't be the fuel pump. When they start to fail you will lose fuel pressure and it will struggle to maintain a constant fuel supply. Is the auto choke opening fully at operating temp? I'm not familiar with the vacuum circuits on the 2.0 post 1986 so hopefully another member can chime in here and offer some insight.

It sounds like you got some junk in the float valve.
