Pulls when braking

Hi Guys,

I had to replace a front wheel stud on the passenger side the other day. Now I have noticed that it pulls left when braking. The harder I brake, the harder it pulls. I'm not sure what I could have done to make this happen. I removed the caliper, the pad assembly, then unbolted the rotor to make room to insert the stud. Nothing unusual there, right?

I inspected the pads and rotor too and they were excellent (they were replaced not very long ago). I put a little grease on the caliper shafts too, then buttoned it all up. Could it be the grease on the passenger side made an in-balance with the driver's side? I'm not sure what to do next. Thoughts?

There's no shimmy, no noise, and it tracks straight when not braking.

You will need to grease both calipers. They are surprisingly sensitive to drag and now the passenger side moves freely, the drivers side caliper is now exhibiting drag that was probably present in both the front brakes. Give the slides a big clean and a hit of fresh grease and (fingers crossed) the front end will brake evenly.

After cleaning and lubing the driver side it still pulls to the left.

I guess I will have to disassemble the pass side again, maybe I will see something.

I figured I would replace the front pads to rule them out as the cause, since I had a set. But then I figured I would also install new rotors, since I had a set. That did the trick. But now I don't know if it was the pads or the rotors. :)

It was more than likely the pads (primarily - depending on how long it had been dragging for it could've affected rotor thickness as well but you would've noticed sooner). If they were wearing unevenly from one side compared to the other, the brake piston travel would be different.
