As the title says. I was on E-bay and noticed that the head gasket for a G63B is the same as a 4G63. Now is it possible to put this kind of head on this engine fairly easy? I'm not really planning to do this any time soon, but I thought it would be cool to check it out. And what about a timing belt, would the 4G63 timing belt fit, or would you have to have a special belt?
The head may be a bolt on, but in order to run the head, you must switch to fuel injection, and run the eclipse wiring harness and ecu. That involves the cas and thermostat hopusing. If you are going to use the head, might as well go full 4g63 turbo. Its only a few extra steps.

Yes the blocks are practically the exact same, besides the 4g block having oil squirters. You would also need to run all the tensioners and pulleys etc from the 4g.
Easiest and fastest is to drop the long block 4g63 but if your going to build anyway it doesn't matter which block you start out with.
How much HP do you think it would gain?
Well as 4doorciv said you also need to throw on the fuel injection/ecu/wiring, etc for it unless you can find a way to get a carb intake to work on the head. But might as we'll go f.I.
The na 4g63 from the 1st gen Dsm run around 140. Using the oem block with the pulleys and timing gearts to make it work would bump your compression to around 11:1 I think. More info on this at projectzerog. The na 4g63 block does not have the oil squirters as well. Aslo you would have to make a custom exhaust manifold as there is no aftermarket support with custom.
