Hello guys, any of yall have experience with the G54Bs flywheel. Recently, whether or not to poor or bad part, I had a starter housing crack and fail [give it one of the few things that have been bad luck with this truck in years] (lasted only a few years though not crazy miles). The shop who fixed it told me that the flywheel was able to be fixed up without dropping transmission (essentially observing the teeth and using a "tool" to get it back to spec) and simply also reinstalled a new starter; saving time and money of course, and it does fire up pretty dang quickly now [nearly hold it on for too long at times :) ].

Shop told me that fix is not a real permanent fix overall (couldn't fully guarantee but gave good price and works on a lot of classics), but future machine work could remedy flywheel issues if likely they persist. I noticed there aren't a whole lot of G54B flywheels and such on ebay or really anywhere. I feel like there's no beating OEM most of the time, especially on engine stuff.

-I did go to Rockauto recently and saw they had the platinum driveline one for the 1985 dodge ram 50 2.6L (good specs lined up with what was seen on this site too), but it was out of stock too. Still likely may jump on one if I get the chance. --What do you all think in your experience? (sorry a bit of a read)--

I should think your best bet would be to find a used flywheel out of a junk yard... so try Ebay or online junkyards.

Not a bad idea for certain, saving could be pretty big there too, may have to search there a bit longer and harder again.

I think there is a Upullit/pick and pull in Pomona, couple other junk yards in Inland Empire. I forgot to ask if they have any of our trucks last time I called around, was looking for power window regulators out of a Montero myself. There were a couple parts cars on marketplace in our area as well, one was in San Diego I believe.
