I have a truck that came stock with AC. My problem is that all of the replacement dryers have too small OD threads and they are designed for rings and not SAE flared fittings.

My dryer threads measure 5/8" OD and have male flares. I would like to match these with a new dryer, but it doesn't look promising for replacements.

Does anyone have suggestions? I'm sure someone here ran into this before I did.

Thanks in advance.

Are there any local automotive A/C shops you could turn to? We've got one here that's great with old, oddball systems; they've seen it all and know where to find it or how to work around it.

Thanks, I have one place that I can check. I was hoping to figure it out before asking my mechanic. It might cost me an hour of labor for him to find the right part. Everybody needs to be paid for their time now.

Thanks for the response.

FYI, the mechanics that I visited were not able to help. They pointed me to an AC repair shop that stocked the flared fittings type. I found that the 1981 Honda Accord has the same flared dryer that was a drop in replacement for mine. I went with NAPA's part number below, which matches a four seasons number.
