So we traded a cord of wood for a crippled 89 power ram 50. It had some 20 year old Yokohamas all weather checked. I had a set of 31x10.50 firestone atx just sitting around. We had them on a Toyota we use for off road fire wood but kept puncturing side walls.

Initially they seemed impossible to fit but after trimming and folding the back of the fenders and maybe an inch of mallet work on the pinch weld they don't rub at all. I did have to remove the twisted valance and cut a bit of the bumper off.

All said and done you can't even tell it was cut. Gearing is somehow more in the sweet spot and the truck had more legs. You can use 3rd longer on hills and 5th is still totally usable.
The truck is all hunkered down on fat 31s and looks great.

Didn't take much. Just drew a line from a logical spot on the rear to the back of the front lower fender mounting bolt. This made the line straight. I left extra so I could bend a new 90 in it instead of having a sharp edge. This allows the inner plastic to stuff back in too.

Then after a bit of stuffing and turning I saw the lower part of the bumper still kissed the tire at full turn. I trimmed just a tiny bit off, a pie shaped slice opening up about an inch on the bottom.

These are chunky 31s too.

I don't approve smacking fenders and such up, but your truck. 4x4's aren't as common and yours likely has some other nice features not found on most trucks.

By comparison these are 31's and 30's on factory mitsubishi wheels.

Yeah I wasn't really into cutting it either. It needed tires and the paid for set sitting there in my shed kind of made up my mind for me. I tried not to Butcher it up in the process.

Not much of a fender really should be easy to work with and they are cheap if you don’t need them shipped to you. Id find a custom shop and get a pair flared out to match, the clearance on the back should not be a problem. I put 235x75x15s on my D50 that clear well except for the mud flaps rub a bit on turns because they are not flat and have molded curves where they mount. New set coming soon.

Drove it on a short trip today for a work conference. Swapped to aluminum wheels in the morning. Guy at the tire shop tried to buy it. Got fuel. Guy at the gas station tried to buy it.

I found a couple nice sets of wheels with the right pattern but they are 16s one set was on a 4 Runner the others on a Xterra shame it’s tough to find a matching set.

16” might be the future the way 15” are drying out now.
