I have a 92 MM with auto transmission. Will not start in P but will start in N. To select R, I have to put the indicator in P, for D it has to be in N. I am mechanically inclined, but unfamiliar with this truck. Seems like it should be just a simple adjustment, but where?

I'd pull the covers off the steering column find the indicator cable and follow it to where it connects to the shifter right there should be a bolt to adjust it. Just make sure it's in P when you adjust it. Also if it has a floor shifter just pop the cover off follow the indicator and see if you spot a adjuster. (I am 0laying this off by what I remember on the first auto second gen I tinkered with if memory serves me right this info should be pretty accurate if not someone else please chime in lol)

I've seen other old school Mitsubishi auto linkages - they had a 'barrel' adjuster on the linkage rod with 2 retaining nuts but no idea if this applies to a Gen 2 truck w/auto. The inhibitor switch is under the floor shifter bezel and is easy enough to fix if they start glitching (as long as the internal contacts aren't completely worn out). Blast of electronic parts cleaner and dig out any funk inside of it with a Q tip/cotton swab stick...
