Hi y'all just picked up my 87 2.6 litre from and auction, it'll fire with ether or by pouring fuel down the carb, no fuel squirting out from carb at all i bypassed the tank with a gas jug and still nothing. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Sounds like the fuel pump

mechanical one? could be the diaphragm has split

when you bypass it, i assume you are running a new line from the jug to the pump.

New pumps are available, about 60 bucks usd

Running jug into inlet to the fuel pump and yes it's a mechanical pump

Pumps making good pressure return line has enough pressure to try and push my thumb off when it's cranking and it's capped

Is it getting into the carb?
could be blocked line from the pump to carb, or the float in the carb is stuck closed

It's getting up to the carb I'm not too familiar with these carbs I was reading about a fuel shutoff? Not sure if that's something that can be bypassed or maybe the carb just needs to be rebuilt?

For stuck float ~ try tapping on the carb at the front above the float above the fuel inlet pipe ~ use a small hammer or large screwdriver handle ~ don't break it but give it several good punches right in the eye ~ got anything that vibrates strongly (?) might try it too

My guess was stuck float I tried tapping on it and it didn't get me anywhere. Fuels getting to the carb and is coming out of the top return line but not actually flowing out of the carb. I'll try dropping it in an ultrasonic cleaner and seeing if that helps might just need to go ahead and order a rebuild kit thanks for y'all's help God bless.

On the rebuild, try this before final assembly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnpn0O3L-Q8
On disassembly, do this test as well (?) shake the float 'n see if any liquid got into it (?)
