Hi there. Just blew up my L200 4x4 1990 2.6 petrol 5 speed manual gearbox. I can't find a 4x4 one but there are plenty of 2wd ones close by me. I was wondering if I remove the tail housing will the transfer case bolt onto the 2wd gearbox. thanks in advance.

No I can't because the output shaft is to long lol

You can swap the guts out of a good 2WD transmission into a 4WD one though. Dad had to do that on his at one point to get his transmission back together.

The only difference is the main shaft I think.

Yes that is my understanding. As long as you have a good 4x4 main shaft you can use the 2wd gears. There might be a different in ratio's maybe?.

One thing to pay close attention to is the cir-clip s inside the trans. They make different thicknesses for setting proper backlash. They even color code them
