I'd like to remove my hood hinges so I can slot-out the holes, allowing the hood to adjust farther. Has anyone taken those out? I can't figure out how to do it. Thanks~

Sorry to ask what is probably an unhelpful question here, but why do you you want to increase the adjustment of the hood?
And in what direction?

You want to be able to tilt the hood back further when it's open? I know on Gen 1's that wont happen without a drill and a grinder...

My hood interferes with the cowl when I close it. I tried taking it off and adjusting it with the slotted holes in the hinges - but I found it's already all the way forward. If I could slot-out those holes 3 mm or so, allowing the hood to come forward more, it should solve this problem.

Easy solution would be to take a die grinder and just oval the holes out to give you the extra clearance. This should be do-able without the need of removing the hinges. It is weird that you need that much adjustment. I'd be worried that something else is amiss...

Yeah something isn't right. Is the hood a replacement?
I believe you access the hinges from either removing the wiper motor or passenger cover plate in the firewall/scuttle or from inside under the dash

I got it adjusted right without taking the hinges out. The die grinder idea worked well but required a lot of protection from metal filings flying all over. It's weird that it took this much adjustment to make it right - the mysteries of buying an older vehicle.
This is what the hinges look like now:

Thats quite strange. it looks like the hinges and hood are original and were never moved. There must be some movement at the other end of the hinge or firewall
