Hello, I am a long time lurker. I have been on the forums for a while now gathering info (hardly gotten any and usually end up confused or with info I dont need) but just now decided I would make an account.

I live in Tagish Canada and I own a Forrest green 1987 dodge d 50 'sport'. I dont know much about these trucks as most people that I know that live in the yukon have full size V8 trucks with big tires and a lift kit.

I do know regular maintenance. I have had the valve covers off checking it out and it's a V6 with DOHC and twin turbos, but that's it as far as I know. It has a 5 speed and 4x4, and it has bucket seats and a center console if those are options, I have seen some with a bench.

I have read up a little bit on it but honestly it's really boring. I was looking for some help on this truck. What issues does it have, what do I need to look out for, what gas mileage should I get, will it be good in snow and ice and mud, etc.

I know it's a V6 because it has 6 plugs 3 on each side, it has 2 turbos because there are literally 2 turbos, and it's a DOHC because it has 4 cams, 2 in each head. And it has a 5 speed because I have shifted it myself, and it's a sport because it has the tach and console and bucket seats and 'sport' emblems.

I am working on getting it back running, it has a few issues and doesnt run right, I know the problem I just need some time. A few vacuum hoses and wires are missing/wrong way and some sensors are wack, but I'll get it with some time.

Thanks! -Raymond

Hi and welcome to mightyram. Someone was building a serious truck before you got your hands on it. This thing will be a weapon when it's running right :shock:FYI they never came with a twin cam V6 TT engine - only a SOHC injected 3.0 V6. We have had a few members try going the twin turbo route. For info on that engine you may need to go to some specialist forums that deal with something like a Stealth 3000GT or 3000 GTO Mitsubishi to decipher wiring and sensor set ups etc. Post pics and ask questions as it helps members here to find answers for you when you're in a bind.

Someone has done some serious work! That is definitely swapped because these truckers had a 160 HP V6 offered from 1990 to 1993, so even if it was the SOHC v6 its impossible being it's an 87 Ram 50

Btw love canada, I'm 63% canadian!

Look forward to seeing pics, there's the rare twin turbo V6 L200 floating around the sheds here in NZ. Wonder what engine it is

wow thats cool. I've been smacked across the face haha. I know this dude had, not 1, not 2, but 3 Mitsubishi galants and another little weird car I forgot the name to. I am curious if he played some games with the parts and made some crazy V6. it really looks OEM. the stickers say 2.8L Twin Turbo so if thats a hint as to what I really have that would help. thanks!

Maybe it was painted too- none of the '87 models came in that color, at least in the US (maybe they did in Canada?)

Just checked the website on my work laptop. Sorry I have nothing but a flip phone w no cam, so I cant take pics and submit them. Sorry my messages didnt send either. It is green in the door jams and the paint is already exceptional, it has protective coating in the underside and all so it should never rust. It has green interior and exterior, 2 tone all the way 2.7L DOHC TT V6, 5 speed manual, and to my best knowledge, 30" x 10" tires, 16" wheels and a 4.6:1 rear end.

Btw got my sensors all corrected last night, vacuum hoses come when I get home.

A regular camera works too.

No 2.7l V6 turbos were ever produced in the US. Also all V6’s in the states were 4.22 gearing.

his profile says he lives in Canada, sooo ??? I remember dodge has a DOHC 2.7L V6? I am sure this is swapped because a V6 option didn't come until 1990 and he says this is an 87 truck. they did come in Forrest green and given he said his door jams were the car color i would say that is factory. maybe some dude took this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LH_engine engine, the worst engine Chrysler ever made (it was in the prowler among other cars) and stuck it in an older model car??? my best guess, the only V6 that these cars seen were a 12 valve SOHC 3 liter V6

Its not a factory option. Some photos would quickly clear things up.
