sooo, i had to fab a new radiator hose inlet for my engine to use the
new radiator i have.

my question is regarding this silly little U-shaped hose that seems to act as a bypass
from the thermostat housing around to the radiator hose inlet underneath it, pictured here:

Is this bypass hose important??? the new inlet i made without a nipple for this hose,
i just want to be sure that capping off the remaining nipple and eliminating the hose
altogether is NOT a bad idea.

should i weld on a nipple to retain this hose routeing in the system or am I cool to delete it???
any thoughts or insight would be super awesome. thanks fellers

Hmm. You might want to hold up on that. I'm not familiar with these (Morris A series engines have the same hose set up and you can block them off), but it could potentially cook the engine. Will ask my mitsi guru

Staring and thinking about it more, its got to be a pressure by pass that just let's coolant
flow round the thermostat when its closed, obviously.....
I think I'm gonna in bolt it for the 3rd time and weld that nipple on, just so everybody is how it was.

Doesnt that feed back into your intake manifold? I dont have it in front of me, but I wouldnt go and delete it just yet.

i recieved the truck with the little U-hose on those two nipples, just routing around the t-stat/radiator
from, yes, the upper Intake mani (or under the thermostat) down to the water pump inlet that pulls from
the radiator outlet, down at the bottom of the rad.
this is how it was only with a new piece of hose and my new water pump inlet:

so its exactly like i received it, and i never noticed any overheating issues or whatnot, drove it for a year or more daily
like 100miles a day....
