:shakehead: only 50K miles on this. I was in a time crunch and got this as a full kit on amazon. Should have known better. Just ordered up a quality set of chains and guides from Randy at Engine Machine Service.

there was someone on eBay selling the brackets to do the conversion to a Delco alternator for a starquest a while back. I had a friend with an alternator shop modify the A/C bracket for the old York style compressor to make the Delco fit. The wiring part is also important, as they come in single and 3 wire variants.

Pennyman, do you think the Schneider heavy duty valve springs I put in could have anything to do with the chain stretching so fast, or do you think it was just a junk chain?

I have never heard of a chain stretching due to valve springs - it had to be a junk chain.

HD springs do load up the valvetrain but I'd be curious to see what the guides look like. For it to stretch that much there's got to be something wrong - that timing chain looks like it's done a lot more work than the miles you say it's had. It probably hasn't been heat treated and that's whats caused it to stretch like chewing gum...
