I'm sure this question has been answered a ton of times but I can't find and posts when I search. If I have to replace my computer /ECM does it have to be the exact number that I have. Mine is a 155029.

i have a 1990 2.4l. previous owner gave up when it died and had bno spark. I have it completly back together and have the same issue. power at coil when key is on no spark when turning it over. tried a different MFI relay and computer out of a 92 at pull and save so don't know if they are good. did the check list on the MFI and it seem to be ok. don't get power to fuel pump when key is in on posisition but pump does work and pwered at start pos.

You got power into and out of the distributor? The ICM in the distributor may be dead.

Had a Montero with good fuel pressure. Did not give fuel or spark. Distributor signal tested good with a good dvom with min/max feature. Fuel was tested with noid lights and spark was tested with spark tester. Went to oreillys and they had refurbished pcm, fired up. Not saying the same scenario as you are having but should help you out in diagnosing.

The refurbished pcm had a core charge and did not have the oem part sticker as was partially torn off. They did offer a warranty.

Try getting some fault codes out of it. If it is too hard, pull the ECM out and crack the case open. Look for discoloration on the circuit board and/or swollen capacitors. Bad capacitors are the #1 reason why ECM's stop working. If you can hold a soldering iron and can read the values off the sides of the suspect capacitors, you should be able to fix this yourself (if this appears to be the reason why it's not working)
