hey guys I'm new to the site so first of hello
i have a 1991 ram 50 3.0 automatic with a broken flywheel any help with locating one would be great and very much appreciated
i have 4 of these trucks this is the only 1 with a 3.0 and it seems to be a hard one to find i see the montero uses the same engine and a different trans any chance this would work or any other options
thanks in advanced for anything that you come up with

I've got a huge (20 lbs) printed parts book for 92-94 Chrysler imports. Assuming they didn't change the part number between 91 and 92-94, you're looking for MB670015. That's the good news.
There's a parts diagram here: https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/parts-list/1990-dodge-ram-50/engine-crankshaft-piston.html
The bad news is, it wasn't shared with any other Mitsubishi product. I can't find a damn thing about it on Google. It looks like it's been discontinued for a while.
The ring gear on the manual transmission has 117 teeth. I don't know if it'd be the same for an auto trans flex plate. Maybe it's possible to take a flex plate from a Montero and make it fit? I don't know.

you might have to try one from a chrysler voyager. have you tried to have your old one repaired. i know welding these things should be a last resort but in your case (3 years) you are about there.
ill look around and see what i can find.

I think the only way to solve this one is to figure out what the differences are between the Ram50 auto flex plate and the Monty auto and adapting it. Might be something as small as starter motor throw out and flex plate offset or something to do with the torque converter...

honestly yall, this took 5 minutes to find on google. just find an a904 equipped car and use the parts. dodge didn't do all of this super engineering fancy pants shit to their cars all the time like Mitsubishi. the 2.4l shares the same part as the 3.0l, so really any ram 50 truck 90-end prod. will work.

You did the research, but the game is won when you post a link. I think a 3 year wait is at least worth that much...

the flex plate on the 1990 V6 auto trans is unique i am not sure what years are the same it is dished deeper than the monty flex plate i am sure of this as i have a 1990 monty as well the bolt pattern on the 4cyliner crank is the same but it will not work either i also i a 1990 ram 50 with a 2.4 and a 1988 with a 2.6 both are different i am sill looking though all of you input is greatly appreciated

the monty uses a mitsu trans the ram uses a chrysler with some kind of adapter plate so the flex plate is dishes deeper so the converter will not work either

The 1990 trucks seem to be problematic. The 2.4's have ECM and engine management peripheral issues specific only to the 1990 build - and the V6 was unique due to auto trans mounting and assembly? Does this mean the only way you can get around the problem is get someone to machine up a spacer or simply be lucky enough to find a used flex plate for this year model? :shakehead:

actually, dodge did re engineer the a904, but its really a 40rh/a500 for mitsubishi. the bellhousing is designed for the mitsubishi wide blocks. also, the torque converter is smaller. ive had these transmissions apart on a bench side by side.

So I did get this flexplate welded and balanced the truck does run but i would still like to find one because i feel that a undamaged one would be best so i am still looking I know it has been years but i am still hopeful that there is still one out there
Thanks Bill

This thread is 7 years old. I don't think it's going to move forward much.
