Today I found a guy selling a Weber 32/36 carb and went to buy it. It wasn't until later that I noticed it said DFAV and as I'm searching as to how to install it i notice most people have either DGV, DGEV and DGAV. Did I make a mistake and buy the wrong one???

I can be used, it just requires a different install configuration for hookup. Is your truck manual or auto?

It's a manual. What's the difference from the DFAV and DGAV?

Also this is for an 87 Power Ram with the 2.6, not sure if this mounts any different than the 2.0 and 2.4

So I spoke to the guy I bought it from and I guess it originally had the water style choke which is why it's stamped with the DFAV but he switched it to the electric choke

The main difference is the rotation of the throttle cam and which end of the carb the linkage is on. The dfav is most like the original Mikuni in mounting and rotation, and works best for automatic trucks with a kickdown cable. The dgev is reverse rotation of stock carb, and the linkage is in the front. Both carbs will work on a manual truck - Geronimo has had both on him and he is a manual.

Awesome! Thanks. Now I just need to look around for a fuel pump

And the mounting hardware since I only got the carb. I'll have to call Redline to see what exactly I need to order

How are you going to smog it in California - home of the emissions Nazis?

Have a spare stock manifold and rebuilt carb all nice and clean in the garage. When you go in for your annual body cavity search, swap intakes and they'll ne'er be the wiser :P

How are you going to smog it in California - home of the emissions Nazis? IDk the OP's plan's but in Ca. cars of a certain vintage no longer need smog or only have to meet the standards at time of manufacture. This may allow for equipment other than OE as long as the emissions meet standards. Newer stuff has to have OE SMOG stuff on it, some places won't even run the test to see what its putting out if you don't have all OE equipment.

Your truck is too new, since Cali did away with rolling exemptions. Its not that the truck passes the tailpipe test, it will fail the visual, unless you get creative with the hoses and other parts to "look" the part.

The truck is too new, unfortunately only trucks from 75 and older don't have to go thru smog checks over here. Or if I found a factory diesel MM I'd be free and clear, any diesel 97 and older doesn't have to pass thru smog. Money and the right shop does plenty of work over here though. My old Eclipse GST would have never passed smog if it wasn't for it.

Ever since I got the truck it hasn't passed smog either way.
