Volvo 240 windshield wiper arms

This is silly, but it's one of those little details I like.

I wanted to get some updated windshield wiper blades. Not the pricey monoblade ones, but something that'd stay on the glass a little better. Problem is, the factory arms won't accept commonly available replacement blades.

Wiper arms off a Volvo 240 bolt right on. The blades are the same size, but one arm is just slightly longer than the other. I mounted that one on the drivers side, and it works fine. They've got a standard J hook latch, so now I can get whatever blades I want.

Late 80s through end of production in 93 I think. I'm not a Volvo expert. I only noticed it by accident because my father in law has a couple of them, and I noticed really weird, random crap like that :grin:. The donor car I took mine from was a 92.

Any chance you have a part number for those? looked around at local pull and save/junk yards and had no luck. Thinking about ordering online but i wanna make sure they are the right ones.

Sorry. I only know the approximate model years. I can keep an eye out for a set locally. There's another 240 listed at one of the nearby yards, but it's been there for quite a while. I can check it out next time I'm out that way.

I know this is an old thread but i wanted to reply and say thanks because I remembered this post when i was at a junkyard the other day, and swiped a wiper blade of an old 240 to see if it would work on my truck. I had someone detail my truck, and when he went to move the arm it just snapped off. Its a perfect fit on my 95, and i love that its a j hook style to fit more blades. There were two other mighty maxs in the junkyard and both of them had broken wiper arms on them, so it seems to be a common problem. Thanks for the info!
