hello I have a 1979 dodge D50 with a 4 speed manual tranny vin# 9JL4U92101006 and there's a 1985 dodge d50 custom vin# JB7FP24D1FP203879 in the junk yard with a 5 speed manual. both are same body style. is there a website to compare Vin numbers and see if the 5apeed will bolt on? or can anyone tell me? thank u. im wanting to go and get it asap :)

If the 85 motor has a plastic timing cover, then the tranny will swap out, as the 85 2.0 and the 79 2.0 4 spd manuals are both narrow block trannys. Also grab the driveshaft in case there is a difference in length in the front half, and the cross member for mounting differences.

yes it does! i forgot to mention my engine is the g52b but the one at the junk yard says g63. hope that doesn't make a difference.

the g52b is the old 2.0 Astron motor, the g63b is the newer Sirius motor - both are narrow block bolt pattern. To be sure - measure the distance center to center on the lower bolt holes on the tranny on the 85 to be sure - it should measure 12.5" center to center.
