New user. Tried searching and didn't find anything...

Can the oil pan come out without pulling the engine? Wicked oil leak ...appears to be from front of pan in the U part behind the crank pulley.

Easy fix or take to shop??

Thanks!

I dunno. I was just looking at my truck (92 V6) and it'll be a tight fit, if you can do it at all. I think if you pull the steering relay rod and sway bar, you might be able to tilt the pan down enough to get clear of the oil pickup.

I'm worried the passenger side axle shaft and tube will still be in the way though.

I was thinking maybe unhook engine mounts and radiator hoses and lift engine up until bellhousing hits firewall??

That's another possibility. I'd still pull the relay rod and sway bar just in case. Better to have them off ahead of time than to find out you need them gone while the engine is still hanging on the end of a hoist.

Get a 4x4 or something to help support it while it's on the hoist.

Turns out I think it is just the front main. Looking at it I think it can be done by just pulling the balancer off, replacing the seal, and putting the balancer back on???

Yes, it can be done this way. Just be careful not to gouge the shaft when extracting the seal and installing the new seal without distorting it. And don't lose the keyway :)
