I've never had call to "go into" the ignition system of my '90 Ram 50. So you can call me really really REALLY dumb, but does this thing have points like any normal car used to, or are we talking something I've never dealt with before: ... MSD??

This things missing, and in the OLD days :) one might check "the points and plugs," right? :)

All ram 50s have electronic ignition. It is not an MSD system, but you can add it on. No need to feel dumb - what was dumb was Chrysler putting 2.6 motors in K-cars and Caravans and running them with points! That was in 82-84 and Geronimo is a 1980 and he is electronic ignition.

Thanks, pennyman1. So no points. Weird. (And I kind of liked the K-cars; at least their kinda-squared styling, if I recall correctly.

Can you jump over to the 2nd Generation thread and take a look-see at my "What the heck IS this"? (Which I mistakenly posted twice - sorry)

Thank you sir!!!!!!!!!!!!

try cleaning the throttle body, the MAS, and the PCV and EGR. If that doesn't fix it, then check the TPS for proper operation.
