fuel pressure reg question on 1988 dodge ram 50 sport automatic

i know this has been asked more than once
but i can't find a straight answer for the life of me lol
i have a 1988 dodge ram sport with automatic tranny 2.6l
i installed the
Mitsunishi Dodge Mazda Genuine Weber Carburetor Conversion Kit Electric Choke 32/36 DFEV Electric Chokei have the manual fuel pump hooked up to the carb .
it seems to be running ok but i keep reading over and over that people are putting elec fuel pumps or using fuel pressure regulators with gauges.
so i need a straight answer from someone do i need to change over to a elec fuel pump?
or do i just need to put a fuel pressure regulators with gauges on the setup i have now?
as you can see from the pic this is what i have running now

if you insist on using the mechanical pump, use a regulator that sends the rest of the pressure back to the tank. The mechanical pump puts out 5-7 psi and is too high for a weber. The electric pump is a better solution, as you can get a pump in the 3-4 psi range suited for the weber. The electric pump needs to be placed back at the tank, as it is a pusher style pump. You should also run an oil pressure safety switch, and a relay - hookup instructions are in a sticky

thanks for the info pennyman1 do you have any recommendations on a brand of regulator for a manual pump? and how and where to hook it up? i have never ever done anything like this. and help or ideals will be helpfully

any thoughts on this i got myfuel pressure regulator in today was wondering where to mount it? i was thinking on the wheel well across from the carb/fuel pump i,m figuring the shorter the distance the better .
the fuel pressure regulator i got was the one that pennyman1 suggested

i called quick fuel tec support and they told me that the distance i,m going was fine no worries.
so if anyone else is thinking of going that distance then maybe this helps.

lol forgot to post how far i,m going with it from fuel pump manual pump to wheel well 2.3 ft and then the return line to the weber carb 2.5 ft

thought i would give an update on the carb: installed the low pressure regulator on the wheel well about 2.3 ft from the manual pump and the return line about 2ft to the carb everything seems to be running great so far i did have to readjust the carb a bit it was dieseling on shut off . the loctight seems to be working the carb is still sitting solid.
next little project is going to be the brakes . had someone pull right in front of me today had to slam the brakes after wards heard a high pitch squeal now when i touch the brakes sounds like a warning pin will have to check it this weekend.if it don't rain that is lol

Looks like you've nearly got the go and stop stuff sorted out now. Maybe the pads got glazed from you standing on the brakes hard. Least you know they work. Is it overfuelling a little?

@ geezer101 i think maybe it might have glazed the brakes. this truck hasn't been run very much in the last 10yrs it had been in a storage building and taken out and run about once a month and then it only went about 15 miles. then back to storage.
as for the over fueling i think i have got that one under control too after putting the low pressure fuel regulator on i had to readjust the fuel flow just a bit but i think it will be ok too.they are saying rain this weekend so i may have to put the brakes on hold .hope the rain goes around lol
