Did all of the diesel ram 50's have battery's underneath the bed? Why is this?

What does the battery under the bed do for emissions? Wouldn't it be worse on the planet for all the extra copper used to get the power from the battery to the starter?

The extra emissions crap takes up precious engine bay room - thus the battery relocation. I've been trying to figure out how I can do this to my L200 in the future just to hide the wiring.

BTW if anybody ever needs one I have NOS battery side panels for the bed and even some nice used ones.

Sound like a good idea. Would only help to balance out the truck.

I'm VERY interested! I started making my own battery tray, but decided to hold off on that project and put the battery in an ammo can in the bed. I'd much rather hide it underneath.

Does anyone have any pictures of a battery installed underneath, I'm quite curious.
