Hey guys. I'm looking for a source for the PH6353/MD069783 oil filters. Anyone have any low cost sources? Can't find any under $40! I also see that this is a comperable alternative: http://www.fitinpart.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=56598

I usually go with this Napa Gold filter. It is less than $40 and it is their gold which is the nicest one that they make. Last time I bought one (about a year ago) is was closer to $15. It's pretty much doubled in price. I guess I should have stocked up! I have switched to full synthetic and my truck also doesn't have any leaks. It's tight like a dish! So I usually go about 6000-7000 miles between changes. Good luck!

That's a fuel filter bro. You can get those on Rock Auto for less than $20.

His Fram is a 30x2.0mm filter lol, yours is 20x1.5mm
I just checked the catalog, and I thought my d56's 26mm was horrible

Now I'm confused. Your Fram is 30x2, but your link is 26x1.5
My d56 is 26x1.5, I normally use the 85067 from carquest

Stay away from Fram, there are some YouTube postings about the manufacturing problems of some of these filters.

Not to sway your decision, I was a lifetime Fram user, but have since changed to use Wix filters. Purolater are pretty high quality, among a few other brands also. I also attached a ultra strong hard drive magnet to the filter casing and also the bottom of my oil pan to hold onto metal fragments. I remove them when replacing oil and reattach afterwards. I have yet to know if they work or not, but it surely hasn't cause a problem.

Hey Spence, you said you use the Napa 1354... I took a look at it and it's physically A LOT smaller than the MD069783 that's on there. Napa also confirmed that the book says it's the right filter so I'm thinking I'll pull off the old one and give it a try, just a little leery.

I guess I'm just ignorant. I didn't realize there was a "monster" sized filter. I wonder how difficult a longer filter would be to install since all the oil cooling lines are around there. If I knew where to find one I'd give it a try. The only difference I would imagine it would make is that I could go longer between changes.

Anyone ever get to the bottom of this? I tried Napa with no success. Found the monsters on Ebay for $28 was the cheapest I could find, they're genuine Mitsubishi, but still too expensive!

A bigger filter won't extend the oil life. The only thing to do that is Synthetic oil.

More oil in the system = longer to break down. Running a bigger oil filter will also offer more filtration surface. But it won't have that bigger impact on oil serviceability (it will be a little cleaner at the service interval if anything - it's only increasing volume by a cup/250 ml). If you were going to do something to improve oil life it would be using a remote filter and oil cooler core (I don't know if the remote system really needs a thermostat unless you're in extreme conditions like below zero temps). It's heat that'll break down the oil.

That's not really the point, these filters have a 30 mm thread on the engine mount and 100 mm gasket. One does not have a choice to use a smaller filter, you must use the one that fits!

Have you looked into Fleetguard or Donaldson? They should have something.

Nobody else makes those period. When you by the fram, it is simply fram buying mitsubishi filters and putting them in the box. Since most people are too cheap to change their filters they are on the list of soon to be obsolete. Fram has already quit selling them. Buy the ebay one and be done with it. This was a california emissions thing and mitsubishi decided as a result to make them all from 84-85 to use the same one. It is a full bypass filter so if it gets clogged it will completely bypass itself! If I got enough interested people I would get the oil filter brackets from japan that would allow us to use $5 filters like the 83 4d55's had. Cost is $200 as it has a bypass and connections for your oil cooler. Funny I know knowbody changes the filters as every truck I buy has a 20 year old filter and than the people wonder why the engine did not last

Thanks for the insight Mike. I will have to stock up on the ebayer's, as I am a regular oil changer. for discussion purposes, how many units do you need to order for the $200 price?

I'd be interested in that mod. What will it take to make that happen? Also did you ever get in the plastic washers which go around the metal balls for the transmission switches? I ordered four from you but did not receive them in the package. Please advise, it's been since the summer when these were ordered. Thanks.

Rock Auto has 20+ from $1.40 to $8.00 or so! "Monster (Cali) or regular sizes. Mobile one synthetics are $1.41!!!!
I'd buy 10 if I had a diesel!

I don't think those are the correct filter... The pics don't look quite right.

Napa 1182, just changed it and it fit perfect on a 1985 Dodge D50 Power Ram. $8.00. done and this was on 1/7/16. Hope that helps, this was on a 2.3 Turbo Diesel. Mitsubishi motor

Actually the Napa 1182 has a 20mm thread, the "monster" has a 30mm thread, so obviously not the right fit!

Call RAuto to confirm. Its "risk free" as RAuto will return (and pay ALL associatedcosts) shipping etc if they don't fit.
Also, if extending drain intervals fro 3-5000 miles (Like I do WITH oil analysis @$1.00 from Amsoil affiliate lab), use AMsoil or other Natural gas made synthetic. The scam of some manufacturers is dino oil "treated" and extra refined so it almst reaches true full synthetic specs.
Pennzoil, Royal purple etc all ARE good oils with amsoil.
My shop 1996 Cummins Dodge truck goes 40000 miles between engine oil and filter changes. The oil EVERY TIME tests out BETTER than brand new Rotella or Delo 15w40 oils. Towing Backhoe (580 Case) and Komatsu D 31 LGP (wide track) with 6 way blade and cab on a tri axle 8500 lbs trailer (rig is at 30000lbs + all up and loaded many ties 200+ miles each way, and always 100+ iles round trip on day wkend jobs, has 440,000 miles all totaled today. Trans just failed (unrelated to oil), so I am very pleaseedoverall. Bad timing re failure and costs aren't welcome, but its hard used equipme t, an that means eventually needs rebuild or replacing help! (LIke me!!) hehe

nyway hope this helps. I am rebuilding my 1995 Mitsubishi Mighty max currently, and am planning to upgrade it to a diesel with its 5 speed manual as well:). I'm dreaming of I/C uprating power, shooting for about 165-180 hp and 350lbs+ wtq in the 2600 lbs weight rnge should be woo hoo fast;)!
