I'm looking to change my fuel filter and I removed the fender shroud so I can see the top of the gas tank to d/c the fuel pump. I can see the side of the electrical connector for the pump but I can't see how it comes apart. I feel like I'm gonna break the thing if I pull any harder. Are there tabs or something that I can't see?

the fuel filter is under the cab, why are you wanting to unplug the fuel pump, shouldn't be necessary?

Yep, found it! The haynes manual instructs to relieve fuel system pressure when changing the filter in an injected engine, so just following the procedure there.

Anyhow, I came back at it fresh just now and got it off in about a minute. The tab was easy to find it turns out.

Nice. Most of the electrical connector sockets have retaining clips built into them but that doesn't make them any easier to pull apart sometimes. Were you going to attempt to check/replace the the pick up filter in the tank?
