I did a tune up on my 2.0 liter and put new platinum plugs in and afterwards it run rough and seemed to miss very bad. I talked to a couple mechanics and they said that the older motors do not run very well with newer platinum plugs. The plugs I am talking about have a very thin looking electrode. Anybody else experience this or know anything about it? Thanks in advance.

if they are Bosch - the truck will not run right. Only use NGK or Denso plugs in our trucks. Autolites will work ok, but not as good as the Japanese plugs.

The plugs I used were ngk but they were the g-power ones with a very thin electrode. I was told you need to run a copper plug because they burn hotter.

Recommended OEM plugs: NGK 7133 (#BPR6ES11).

I am running NGK platinum plugs with no problems in Geronimo - check your cap, rotor, wires(no off brand wires, NGK), and coil. You have a weak spark - also check the spark gap - stock gap is .039 - .043.

I put new stock plugs and new cap rotor and it straightened right up.
