Long story short my truck keys were stolen out of my other car because my wife sucks at locking things.

I checked all my local auto parts places and they only have door lock cylinders but no ignition cylinder.
Can anyone help me locate one? No luck on ebay either. Maybe there is one and I just worded it wrong idk

Thanks

so i went to a my local JY and found a 92 D50. i searched for the key but with no luck. but even if i had found the key i realized i have no idea how to get the lock cylinder out lol. anyone know how? when i was leaving the yard they told me they are getting another D50 in but wont know the year till it gets in or if it has a key or not. they said if it did they would hold onto the key for me. now i just got to figure out how to remove it

You need to drill out the bolts or whatever they are holding it on the column. I had to do it a long while back when I swapped one from my parts truck. That's the thing about getting it from a junkyard, no keys and trying to drill those bolts out holding the ignition.

yea i saw those caps, are they threaded? if so i got a bolt extractor set i could use. make life easier

Yep their an anti-theft bolt, when they reach a designed torque the bolt head breaks off. Just drill a small hole and use an extractor to remove. You can replace them with a 6x1.0 (I think) bolt or a button head Alan head bolt.

You can also remove your and then take the assembly to a locksmith and they can cut you a new key(that's what I did)

Take a hacksaw blade or dremel and cut a slot in the head of the bolt, then use a straight screwdriver blade and spin them out. If the cylinder is original to the truck, a locksmith may be able to cut you a key from the vin #.

no luck on the new inventory at the JY. just went ahead a paid a locksmith $100 to make me a new key and ill just replace the door cylinders with new ones from the parts store. that way if the thief comes back and the key no longer fits in the door maybe he will just leave well enough alone after that.
