I have my 93 mighty max (4g64) for 3 years....absolutely love it... never let me down...

Recently I have been thinking of 4g63t engine swap... I know there are good books online.... but before I get started I just want to ask a few questions so that I know what I am getting into...

1. Biggest question.....What transmission to use? Would the original transmission fit 4g63's bell housing? Or do I need adapter plate, or do I have to find a new transmission?

2. Where to hunt for a 4g63 engine? Remanufactured or used in decent condition is expansive ...and engine with stock parts wouldn't be able to hold abuse,,,need to spend money on aftermarket pistons and cams....Maybe just pull one out of junky yard and rebuild it with aftermarket parts?? any ideas?

Thanks in advance..

DroppedMitsu is a pro at that swap, he will probably make his way in and give you some advise on your build. Keep us posted. :)

you will need a narrow transmission from a 83 - 86 2.0 truck or an ax15 from a dodge dakota with a 2.5 4 cyl (this one is from redneckmopar). Look for 2.4 motors from mopars like stratus ,pt cruisers, mitsu galants, etc. or hyundai / kias with 2.0 / 2.4 motors (they are mitsu designed and licensed)

or just do the head swap on the 4G64...Auto or Manual 5 speed tranny? you have a wideblock and 4663's are narrowblock 1 inch difference.
